Felix Gonzalez- Torres - ‘Untitled’ (Perfect Lovers) - 1987-1990

“Hear them tick now: In and out of time, in and out of love; the same, different; alive, dead; always touching.” - The Washington Post

What happens when time runs out for one of us? Perfectly synchronised at the start, discrepancies emerge, time slows and eventually stops. A poignant, devastating perspective on love, loss and time this work embraces weight and whimsy all at once, in a charming expose about mortality. The ticking sound is of keen interest, as the clocks slowly fall out of sync the slightly mismatched beat would create an unnerving feeling that contrasts the beauty of the visual concept.

Wolfgang Laib - Pollen from Hazelnut - MoMA

“Something which I do for hours and hours and day and days.” - Wolfgang Laib. This work is ethereal and radiant in appearance, softly glowing, yet dense and imposing. The meditative and ritualistic method of collection speaks to time, ritual and labour. A fragile and precious substance, presented in a dominating manner through the use of shape and space. Minimalist yet maximalist, all at once.
